Khairuddin Barbarossa (Hizir Hayreddin Pasha) was the famous Navy Fleet Admiral for Ottoman Empire, also known as “The Red Beard Barbarossa” because his beard is red color. His hair, beard and eyebrow were very thick in red color. According to the historian, his eyebrow was connected between one and another.
He is the most successful and scariest Navy Fleet Admiral during his time. Moreover, the Westerners are using his name and story to scare their children to make them obey the parents. Barbarossa is a bright and intelligence young person that like make jokes and friendly to his friends. During his youth, he speech style was excellent. One of the amazing things about Barbarossa is that he was experts in 6 languages (Turkish, Greek, Arab, Spain, Italy and France). He is a brave person that full of consideration, confident and tactics when he attacks the enemy fleets. He was born as a healthy young boy who good in the fight and wrestling.
During the Ottoman Empire, he becomes the high official rank of Navy. His rank is Kaptan-I Derya (Navy Fleet Admiral). As the Admiral, he never forgets to pass his knowledge and experiences to his subordinates. That is why, many of his lower rank officer becomes a famous Navy Admiral like him. One of his officers is Turgut Reis, he becomes Navy Admiral after the death of Barbarossa.

Barbarossa’s Legacy:
Barbarossa established Turkish supremacy in the Mediterranean which lasted until the Battle of Lepanto in 1571.
After their defeat in Lepanto, the Ottoman Turks quickly rebuilt their fleet, regained Cyprus and other lost territories in Morea and Dalmatia from the Republic of Venice between 1571 and 1572, and conquered Tunisia from Spain in 1574.
Furthermore, the Turks ventured into the northern Atlantic Ocean between 1585 and 1660, and continued to be a major Mediterranean sea power for three more centuries, until the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz, when the Ottoman fleet, which had 21 battleships and 173 other types of warships, ranked as the third largest naval force in the world after the British and French navies (see the main article History of the Turkish Navy).
